As expected the tournament to be held in multiple venues and Bhubaneswar is also in the race to become the host for the World Cup. To prepare for the big event, the Indian Women’s U-17 team was taken on an exposure trips in which Manju was the lone Odisha player. This is the first time, the U-17 Indian Women’s football team is going to take part in such a large affair. Notably, Football Coach of the Hostel Mamata Samant has expressed her pleasure over the selection of Manju. She hoped Manju shall do the State proud with her skill.
She said it was heartening to note that a girl from the Hostel, in an area dominated by Hockey, has emerged at the national level. However, she rued not enough encouragement was being given to the game in Odisha though other sports have been promoted at a higher degree. “More encouragement will yield far more better result,” She commented.
