Deepak Punia secures quota for Tokyo Olympics 2020

(Reporters Today, Bhubaneswar): Junior world champion Deepak Punia became the fourth Indian athlete to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics after securing his place in the semifinals of the ongoing World Wrestling Championship at Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan on Saturday. Deepak booked his place after defeating Colombia’s Carlos Arturo Mendez in a tense semifinal.

He will now wrestle against with Stefan Reichmuth of Switzerland for a place in the gold medal match. Earlier, among the Indian wrestlers Deepak Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Ravi Dahiya have already qualified for the 2020 Olympics with bronze medals.
